I have known people to be politically discriminating in their tastes, but never dogs.

My physical

Filed under: life — Kevin @ 1:39 pm

Woo hoo! I passed my D.O.T. physical! That means I get to remain employed (which is a good thing). I get the “white lab coat syndrome” where, when I know I have to pass a blood pressure test it makes me nervous and thus… I don’t pass. It took four tries but after some relaxing and prayer I was down in the “normal” range and got my 2 year cert.

pool filter

Filed under: life — Kevin @ 10:21 pm

Today I went and purchased 300 pounds of sand. I have been having trouble all summer getting our pool water to clear up and I just read that you need to change the sand every 2-3 years. This is our 6th summer here and I had never changed it. It seems that the little sharp edges of the sand wear off and then they won’t grab onto the algae anymore. It was not as difficult as I thought even though I had to completely take apart the filter. I am hoping that by this time tomorrow I will have clean looking water in the pool.

new radiator in the works

Filed under: life — Kevin @ 5:26 pm

April’s car, I believe, is in need of a new radiator. It does fine for short trips but when they had been driving it for an hour the other day it was so overheated it quit on them. I shall have to procure one and then install it before she comes down again (unless it is much, much cooler).

Filed under: General — Kevin @ 4:19 pm

We are at GLCC getting April all set up to start school. so far we had the car overheat twice on the way up here, and then I just spent 1 1/2 hours in line at altell to get her a phone. once I got up, it took them 5 minutes to take care of me. I was a little irate.

Sailing day?

Filed under: life — Kevin @ 7:31 am

Well yesterday we took the family and the small 2 person sailboat out to a small local lake so that I could teach the girls how to pilot it before our eldest daughter heads off to college (later today, sniff) It was a beautiful lightly breezy day… until we got there and go the boat on the lake. Then the wind largely died and there was SO much seaweed (should that be lakeweed?) that we could barely do anything. So after just one time out with the oldest we called it a bust and went home. Oh well, it was a nice day anyway.
