Today I was transporting my client, a man in his eighties, who was drafted into the German army during the war, fought on the Russian front and then was married on October 30th 1948. He has only one leg and is being treated on dialysis among other health problems. I asked him how he was doing today as I wheeled him into the van. He said “I’m happy.” Then there was a pause and a smile. “It’s my 60th wedding anniversary.” A few minutes later we were joined by his wife who always goes with him to his treatments.
A marriage testimony
dictatorships
One good definition of a dictatorship is that you are not allowed to disagree with the rulers. You are also not allowed to have any say in how decisions are made. Finally, you are not allowed to have any choice in who is in power and makes those decisions. If you go against any of these you will be done away with. Have fun with your dictatorship folks.
Qualified?
Now isn’t this something to think about!
If Barack Obama would apply for a job with the FBI or with the Secret Service, he would be disqualified because of his past association with William Ayers, a known terrorist. If he is elected President he would not qualify to be his own body guard!
Everybody listening???????
Can you hear me now?
watch this.
Marriage counseling
A husband and wife came for counseling after 20 years of marriage. When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 20 years they had been married. She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured over the course of their marriage. Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the wife to stand, he embraced and kissed her passionately as her husband watched with a raised eye brow. The woman shut up and quietly sat down as though in a daze. The therapist turned to the husband and said, ‘This is what your wife needs at least three times a week. Can you do this?’ The husband thought for a moment and replied, ‘Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I fish.’
A MODERN PARABLE . .
A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (Ford) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River . Both teams practiced
long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.
On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile. The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.
Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing. Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.
They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing. Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team’s management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents, and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.
They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the ‘Rowing Team Quality First Program,’ with meetings, dinners, and free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes, and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.
The next year the Japanese won by two miles. Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year’s racing team was out-sourced to India .
The End.
Here’s something else to think about:
Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of
the US , claiming they can’t make money paying American wages.
TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen
plants inside the US . The last quarter’s results:
TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.
Ford folks are still scratching their heads.
